Abstract 

This assignment is being developed for the 'IT Engineering Project' discipline within a Masters in IT Engineering by Lisbon University's Faculty of Sciences. It's a joint project between LASIGE (Large Scale Information Systems Laboratory) and the Proteomics Laboratory of INSA's Human Genetics Centre. This assignment endeavours to create an information system capable of integrating, analyse and share biomedical data arising from research made by INSA's Proteomics Laboratory. Up until now, this data has been stored in an unstructured and incomplete way, making it extremely hard to view, maintain and cross reference the desired information. The data relates to research on treating diseases such as cystic fibroses, asthma and COPD. It is envisaged that the scope will be widened to include other diseases, like hepatic ones.
